5/6u Week 1 Recap:

The WFC Wantagh Warriors 6s opened their season in dramatic fashion with a hard-fought 24-12 victory over Plainedge on a rain-soaked September 7th morning. Battling through monsoon-like conditions, the Warriors showcased grit, determination, and true team chemistry in a game where every player made an impact.

After falling behind 6-0 early, the Warriors came roaring back with three straight touchdown runs by Nicholas Schoepher, Carter Hoch, and Nolan Quinlan, taking an 18-6 lead into halftime. The offense was explosive and efficient, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

In the second half, it was the defense’s time to shine. Eric Kane, Chase Kachmar, and Dominic Ferretti. delivered relentless pressure, racking up multiple sacks and tackles for loss that kept Plainedge from finding any rhythm. The defensive stand sealed the game and energized the sideline.

Dominic Ferretti put the exclamation point on the victory with a thrilling 40-yard touchdown run, putting the game out of reach and securing the Warriors’ first win of the season.

It was a complete team effort and an exciting start to what promises to be a great season for the Warriors!

5/6u Week 2 Recap:

Wantagh Warriors 5-6’s Grind Out Another Gritty Win, Top East Rockaway Raiders 12-6

The WFC Wantagh Warriors 6’s posted another hard-fought victory this weekend, edging out the East Rockaway Raiders 12-6 in a defensive battle to improve to 2-0 on the season.

From the opening whistle, the Warriors defense set the tone, completely stifling the Raiders' offense in the first half. Eric Kane, Jr., Chase Kachmar, and Carter Hoch brought relentless pressure, combining for multiple sacks and tackles for loss that kept East Rockaway off balance.

On the offensive side, the Warriors struck quickly and efficiently behind strong runs from Chase Kachmar and Nicholas Schoepher, who scored on back-to-back touchdown drives to give Wantagh a 12-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, quarterback Mason DeBonis took command, keeping the offense in rhythm and leading a series of sustained drives. The offensive line played in perfect sync, opening up running lanes for Dominic Ferretti, Charles Juergens, and Brandon Hankin, who all contributed key gains to move the chains.

After surrendering an early second-half touchdown, the Warriors defense regrouped and locked down the Raiders’ offense once again. A massive goal-line stand swung the momentum back to Wantagh, and a game-sealing tackle by Joel Simmone in the closing minutes shut the door on any chance of a comeback.

It was another complete team effort from the Warriors, who continue to show grit and determination on both sides of the ball. With the win, Wantagh moves to 2-0 and looks ahead to building on their early-season success.

5/6u Week 4 Recap:

The WFC 6U team rally's late to tie the game in dramatic fashion; remain unbeaten on the season.  After enjoying a bye week 3, the Warriors faced off against crosstown rival, Seaford Broncos.  The first half was a defensive battle, with the Warriors holding strong but ultimately falling behind 6–0 at the break. Offensively, Wantagh struggled to find momentum early, as the Seaford defense held firm and prevented the Warriors from moving the ball effectively.

But the Warriors' defense refused to break. In the second half, Eric Kane Jr. and Joel Simmone delivered multiple tackles behind the line of scrimmage, disrupting Seaford’s offense and keeping the game within reach. Chase Kachmar added a touchdown-saving tackle, chasing down a Broncos running back from behind. Despite their efforts, the Broncos managed to punch it in on the final play of the third quarter to extend their lead to 12–0.

That’s when the Warriors flipped the script.  After some key adjustments, quarterback Mason DeBonis took command of the offense in the second half. Behind strong blocking from Eric Kane Jr., Matthew Ryan, Charles Juergens, Jack Kachmar, and Nicholas Lauricella, the Warriors began to move the ball with purpose. Tough runs from Carter Hoch, Nolan Quinlan, and Liam Freeman began to wear down the Broncos' defense.

Then, Chase Kachmar broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown run, putting Wantagh on the board. On the next possession, Nicholas Schoepher went full Beast Mode, breaking multiple tackles and bulldozing his way into the end zone to tie the game at 12–12.

With the game on the line in their final play, the Warriors drove downfield but came up just short of the goal line.

The coaches couldn’t be prouder of how the team fought through adversity, leaned on each other, and walked off the field still undefeated. Record: 2-0-1

5/6u Week 5 Recap:

6U Wantagh Warriors Stay Undefeated with Dominant Win Over Franklin Square

Behind a complete team effort, the 6U Wantagh Warriors topped the Franklin Square Warriors to remain undefeated on the season. From the opening whistle, Wantagh set the tone with dominant defense, refusing to let Franklin Square gain any momentum or move the ball effectively.

The defense was relentless, consistently disrupting plays in the backfield. Eric Kane Jr. and Joel Simmone owned the line of scrimmage, often meeting at the quarterback for tackles behind the line. Jack and Chase Kachmar teamed up for a key backfield stop, while Liam Freeman flew in from his linebacker spot to make a solo tackle for loss. Additional strong defensive contributions came from Matthew Ryan, Mason DeBonis, Charles Juergens, and Nolan Quinlan, all helping to smother the Franklin Square offense.

Franklin Square managed a lone score on a broken play late in the first half — but that would be their only bright spot of the day.

On the offensive side, the Warriors continued to shine behind strong offensive line play from Nicholas Lauricella, Michael DeLaTorre, Brandon Hankin, James McGovern, Dominic Ferretti, and Eric Kane Jr. Quarterback Mason DeBonis led the charge as Wantagh scored on two of their first three possessions.

Chase Kachmar found a seam in the defense and sprinted nearly untouched into the end zone to tie the game early. Later, Nicholas Schoephfer delivered a perfectly timed lead block that sprung Carter Hoch into the open field. Just when it looked like Carter might be caught, he made an ankle-breaking cut, shaking the final defender and scoring the go-ahead touchdown — a lead Wantagh would not give up.

It was a true team victory, and the coaches couldn’t be prouder of the Warriors’ effort, execution, and heart.
